high school football matchups guardian cap being worn in practices

Welcome to another week of high school football matchups! As we approach Halloween, we can celebrate the treat of many great games being played under the lights this weekend. Best of luck to all the teams slugging it out in the playoffs. With all the uncertainty of this past year, it is good to remember that pressure is a privilege. We wish you more treats than tricks, and the opportunity to play another game.

Weekend matchups:

Grayson High School (GA) #5 National Ranking vs. Parkview High School (GA) #5 in the State

Grayson High School has a long history of producing great football players. This year is no different. The Rams are packed with Division 1 talent on both sides of the football. Notable players include Jake Garcia (USC Commit and #4 QB in class of 2021), Daejon Reynolds (Florida Commit and #37 WR in Class of 2021), and Phil Mafah (Clemson Commit and #14 RB in Class of 2021). The Rams are led by Head Coach Adam Carter.

The Parkview Panthers will take the field on Friday as the #5 team in the state of Georgia. The Panther’s offense, led by Cody Brown (Tennessee Commit and #9 RB in Class of 2021), Jared Brown (Coastal Carolina Commit) and a talented Colin Houck (QB Class of 2023), have put up strong numbers all year. The Panthers are coached by Eric Godfree.

The game will be featured live on Friday on ESPN, so tune in for a matchup of two very talented teams!

St. Joseph’s Preparatory School (PA) #3 National Ranking vs. Archbishop Wood High School (PA) #14 in State

St. Joseph’s Prep is one of the most premier programs in the country. The Hawks had an impressive 2019 season, which led them to the state championship finals and a Top 20 ranking. Coach Timothy Roken has started his second season successfully with an undefeated record. The Hawks have an incredible amount of dynamic talent including Kyle McCord (Ohio State Commit and #3 PRO in Class of 2021), Jeremiah Trotter (Clemson Commit and #1 ILB in Class of 2021), and Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State Commit and #21 WR in Class of 2021).

Archbishop Wood will also enter into this game with an undefeated 2-0 record. The Vikings are coming off a fantastic 2019 season as 5A state champs. Coach Matt Walp has had a great 2020 season with wins over Bishop McDevitt and Roman Catholic.  The Vikings have a lot of great talent, but keep an eye an on defensive standout Robert Jackson (#40 SDE in Class of 2021).

Kick off is scheduled for 6pm on Halloween at Archbishop Wood.

Stillwater High School (OK) #3 in State vs. Midwest City High School (OK) #6 in State

The undefeated Stillwater Pioneers will enter this match-up as the third ranked team in the state. The Pioneers have had an impressive season, averaging almost 60 points per game. Tevin Williams (Baylor Commit and #35 CB in Class of 2021), Lance Petermann (#129 OG in Class of 2021) and Qwontrel Walker are all standouts for the Pioneers.

The Midwest City Bombers will enter this game 6-1. The only loss for the season for the Bombers was to Carl Albert (#5 in the state). Makale Smith (Oklahoma State Commit and #93 ATH in Class of 2021) will line up on both sides of the ball for the Bombers.

Saguaro High School (AZ) #9 in State vs. Horizon High School (AZ) #27 in State

We have been looking forward to this game for quite a while. Both teams have a lot of talent, which will make it an exciting game. Saguaro will roll into this game with a 2-1 record, and an impressive 70-14 win over Maricopa. The Sabercats have a lot of great talent including Quintin Somerville (Michigan Commit and #14 SDE in Class of 2021), Denzel Burke (Ohio State Commit and #8 ATH in Class of 2021), and Bram Walden (Oregon Commit and #14 OT in Class of 2021).

Horizon High School also has its fair share of rising stars in WR Avery Lambert, RB Koran Broyles, and OL J.D. Klever. Horizon’s only loss on the year is to the Pinnacle Pioneers in week one. Since then, the Huskies have had several impressive wins.
